Library Learning and Teaching: Level-five sessions

The Library Learning and Teaching team's mission is to deliver information literacy resources across all disciplines and course levels. Discover our teaching program for your students and how we support researchers.

Developing search skills

Evidence based practice

In recognition that students at level 5 need to start expanding their research to include more current and academic resources, this session serves as an introduction to subject-specific databases and reliable websites. From this session, students will start to understand the value of using academic sources of information to help them to achieve a better mark in their assignments.

This session builds upon the level 4 search strategy sessions, as it demonstrates how such techniques can be used within academic databases to achieve focused results.

Staying on top of your research

This session will introduce students to the various ways that they can keep informed about new research within their area, by using saving and alert services within both Library Search and academic databases.  Other online services, such as Feedly, will also be highlighted as potential tools which students can find it beneficial to use to stay abreast of news within their field.
