Laptop Loans

 

Throughout our campus buildings there are various laptop loan lockers.  

Students will be able to borrow Windows laptops for a maximum period of 
six hours and Macs for four hours. 

Visit PCFinder.bcu.ac.uk to see real time information on how many laptops are available in each locker, as well as colour coded maps for their location.

How do I purchase printing credits? You can purchase print credits through the MY PRINT Dashboard

You will have access to your new MyPrint dashboard at myprint.bcu.ac.uk which will allow you to top up your printing credit and manage your print history in one place.

You will need to purchase printing credits before you can print from University printers. You can purchase print credits through the MY PRINT Dashboard please note, only not top-up for what you need to print as print credits are non-refundable

The new MY PRINT user dashboard allows you a view of all of your live printing activity and also allows you to:

  • Add print credit
  • Check your balance
  • View your transaction history
  • View recent print jobs
  • View print jobs pending release
  • View your environmental impact
  • Submit a job to print directly through the dashboard

How to print from a University PC

  1. Press Ctrl+P on your keyboard or go to File>Print. (Command+P on Mac)
  2. Select MyPrint from the print driver list and choose print properties to select options.
  3. Visit any printer and place your BCU ID card on the card reader or select Sign In on the screen and enter your BCU log in details.
  4. Select the Print Release icon and then select your document on the screen and press Print. If you would like to change the options, select the arrow to the right of the document (files will be deleted after 24hrs).
  5. Remember to Log out of the printer by pressing the Logout button or scan your ID card on the card reader so that nobody else can use your print credits.

Why am I charged for 2 sides when only 1 side has printed?  If the document you send has a blank page at the end, you will be charged for this. Please ensure that there are no blank pages at the end of your document.

How to print from your laptop or phone

 

You can now upload your files within the new My Print Dashboard.

  1. Log into the MY PRINT user dashboard with your BCU User Name & Password.
  2. Select the Web Print Tab on the left hand side of the screen.
  3. Select submit job.
  4. Insert the number of copies required.
  5. Select Upload documents.
  6. Select Upload from computer or drag your document into the box.
  7. Select Upload and Complete.
  8. Your documentscan be seen in the Jobs Pending Release tab.

You can also email you documents to the printer:

  1. With mobile printing you can print from any device, submit jobs by email even if you're off-site and release your prints at any BCU campus.
  2. To use mobile printing, your document must an Office, PDF or JPEG file:
  3. Log onto your BCU email
  4. Email your attachments to mobileprinting@bcu.ac.uk
  5. Collect your documents at any printer

By default all print jobs sent by email will be single sided and in colour. To change your print preferences, you will need to log on to the printer, select your document and press the arrow button to the right of your document to change your settings.

How to photocopy

  1. Visit any printer and place your BCU ID card on the card reader or select sign in on the screen and enter your BCU log in details.
  2. For single sided documents, place your document face down on the top left corner of the glass or place the documents in the document feeder face up and enter the number of copies requried on the bottom right of display screen, and press Copy.
  3. For other options including double sided copying, select the Copy icon and select the options you require. Place your document face down on the top left corner of the glass or place the documents in the document feeder face up.
  4. Remember to Log out of the printer by pressing the logout button or scan your ID card on the card reader so that nobody else can use your print credits.

How to scan

  1. Visit any printer and place your BCU ID card on the card reader or select sign in on the screen and enter your BCU log in details.
  2. On the display screen, select Scan to Myself icon.
  3. Place your document face down on the top left corner of the glass or place the documents in the document feeder face up.
  4. Press the Scan and Send button at the top of the screen to access the scanning menu.
  5. Your scans will be sent to you BCU email. If you want to scan to another email address, please enter the address in the CC box. Make any changes as required in the options on the right hand side of the screen.
  6. Press the green button on the printer to start scanning.
  7. Remember to Log out of the printer by pressing the logout button or scan your ID card on the card reader so that nobody else can use your print credits.
