In May 2023 Learning on Screen released a Code of Fair Practice for the use of Audiovisual Works in Film Education to help promote the lawful use of audiovisual materials for educational purposes.

The code references and endorses UK Legal Exceptions to Copyright and the concept of "Fair Dealing" to encourage informed educational use of this resource type.
The code is organised around the following core scenarios:
- Allowing Students Equitable Access to a Diverse Range of Films.
- Allowing Students to Critically Analyse Films.
- Adapting Films for Teaching and Learning Purposes.
- Format Shifting of Film Content.
