University Archive
The Centre houses a growing collection of historical archive documents relating to the University’s history. This invaluable resource comprises of bound volumes, registers, minute books, prospectuses, news cuttings and photographic material. The continuance of the University Archive is being guaranteed through the deposit of current University source books such as prospectuses, statistical handbooks and topical press cuttings.
Documenting the history of the University, the archive includes the central records of the constituent colleges, primarily those of the College of Commerce, through the polytechnic years, and up to the present day. Material held relates from the late 1800's to the present.
We actively collect and preserve records of permanent value. These records provide an important resource for researching the history of the University, higher education institutions and the wider community.
At present the University archives are not catalogued but work is progressing to arrange and list the records we hold. The archive is open to students and staff within the university and to external researchers.
