Bringing the Library to You: Troubleshooting

The library offers both physical and online resources to support your studies whether you are on campus or working from your local coffee shop. This guide is to help you make the most of studying from whatever location you choose.

Sometimes when trying to access an article the library subscribes to you may get a privacy error message like the one below. Clearing your web browser history / cache usually resolves these issues.

Follow the instructions to clear the web browser history in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari iOS and Safari Mac.

Google Chrome

To clear the web browser data on Chrome: 

  Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  Make sure the time frame is set to all time

  Make sure the boxes for Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files are ticked

  Click on the Clear data button

  Close down all web browser windows/tabs completely

  Re-open Google Chrome and attempt your search/action again

 

 

Mozilla Firefox

To clear the web browser data on Mozilla FireFox: 

  Click the Library button , click History and then click Clear Recent History

  Click the drop-down menu next to Time range to clear  and choose Everything

  

 

  Click the Clear Now button. 

   Close down all web browser windows/tabs completely

  Re-open Mozilla FireFox and attempt your search/action again

 

 

 

 

Microsoft Edge

To clear the web browser data on Microsoft Edge: 

  Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  Make sure the boxes for Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data, Cached date and files and Tabs that I've set aside or recently closed are ticked

 

  Select Clear.

  Close down all web browser windows/tabs completely

  Re-open Microsoft Edge and attempt your search/action again

 

 

 

 

Safari - iPhone

To clear the web browser data in Safari for iPhone: 

  Go to Settings > Safari and tap History and Website Data and click on Clear

 

  Re-open Safari and attempt your search action again

 

Safari - Mac

To clear the web browser data in Safari for iPhone: 

  Go to Safari menu > Clear History ...

Menu bar, Safari, Clear history

  Reload the page and attempt your search action again
