Academic Staff Guide to Library and Learning Resources: Welcome

This guide is for new and existing academic staff to discover how Library and Learning Resources can help them, and therefore their students, in their work.

Welcome to Birmingham City University

This guide is intended as a quick reference tool to help new and existing staff become acquainted with, and make the most of, the services Library and Learning Resources offers you and your students.

We hope the guide will answer many of your questions, but please do talk to your librarians about any issues you may have as we are always keen to improve our service to you and your students.

Library and Learning Resource Contacts

Library staff are here to make your lives easier. Each subject has up to three librarians attached to it. Each has a specific role:

  • Collection Management Librarian: this is the person to speak to about purchasing resources for the library, advice on reading lists, or if you want to make existing materials more accessible.

  • Enquiry Services Librarian: this is the person to speak to if you are in the library and have a question about finding or using any of the materials you need.

  • Learning Teaching and Research Librarian: this is the person to contact if you wish to arrange library inductions, one-to one tutorials or teaching sessions for your students, or if you want a demonstration of a database.

Librarians will attend a range of departmental and staff and student meetings to discuss library matters with students and academic staff  - we always welcome your feedback

If you wish to find out who your librarians are, please see the Contacts tab in this Libguide, or visit your Subject Libguide, where the full contact details are displayed.
