Referencing

Referencing is a vital component of academic writing.

It demonstrates your ability to select and refer to the most appropriate external sources which support your work. You need to give proper credit to the authors of any work from which you use information in order to avoid plagiarism.

All Education students need to use the Harvard Referencing System.

 

 

Study Support

If you need help with academic and report writing, critical analysis, referencing and numeracy skills you can get help and support from:

Personal Development Department (PDD) Based at City South they offer workshops and small group or individual tutorials. Contact Sherron Parkes, on 0121 331 7011 to book an appointment or for further information.

Centre for Academic Success (CAS)  The workshops and tutorials offered by CAS are available primarily at City Centre campus, and other our campuses. Further details and how to book can be found here.

Using Other Libraries

 There are a number of ways that you can access other resources:

  • Inter-Library Loans service will get you books and articles we don't hold
  • SCONUL Access allows you to visit other academic libraries and use their print resources
  • ETHOS  provides access to Ph.D. theses for UK universities
  • Library Hub Discover is a catalogue of the holdings of over 90 UK academic and specialist libraries
