Education - Teacher Training: Journal Articles & Databases

Journal Articles

Journal articles published within scholarly journals are particularly useful as they:

  • Contain primary research, both qualitative and quantitative
  • Are usually the first place where such research is published
  • Articles are often very focused on a specific issue within your field
  • They contain a lengthy list of references which can lead to further sources of information

Databases

Databases enable you to search for journal articles and offer the following advantages:

  • They have been specifically selected by your subject librarian and academics
  • They focus upon a specific discipline so will enable you to find more relevant articles
  • You can usually create a personal account which enables you to save searches and to set up alerts
