Benefits of joining BCU Library as a member of the RCO

Curzon Library

Join BCU Library, free of charge as a member of the RCO, and access the RCO collection at Curzon Library on the City Centre campus.

As a member of BCU Library, you will also have access to the wider BCU Library collections of print resources. 

BCU Library has an impressive collection of music resources which serve the needs of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Curzon Library offers postal loans, of items from the RCO collection, to RCO members who join BCU Library. See below for further information.

Members of BCU Library can request items from beyond our collections such as journal articles and book chapters. This BCU Inter Library Loan service is a charged service for RCO members.

You will need to either upload a digital photo of the required ID or upload a scanned copy of the specified ID.

If you are experiencing any difficulties with the online registration process, please contact BCU Library staff.

Accessing Curzon Library on the BCU City Centre campus

Before your visit, you will need to become a member of BCU Library. You are advised to allow 5 working days for your membership request to be processed.

Please be aware that you will need to bring your BCU library card, proof of ID. You'll need to bring your library card and proof of ID with you every time you want to access the library.

A replacement charge of £10 is made for lost cards.

Borrowing and returning items from the RCO collection at BCU by Postal Loan

Borrowing items by post:

Before using the postal borrowing service, you will need to become a member of BCU Library.  

We've made arrangements to send items to RCO members via Royal Mail. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please complete the form below.

There is ordinarily a charge for this service, which is dependant on postage charges for items you request. BCU Library is currently waiving the charge due to the developing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic. You will be notified before any items are posted if charges are reinstated and what the cost of postage will be.

You may borrow up to four physical items for loan at one time.

Please be aware that you will have to pay the cost of return postage. We advise obtaining a proof of postage receipt.
